Shannon Airport (EZF)

Shannon Airport is the official Fredericksburg Airport, and it is just 2.7 miles from downtown Fredericksburg.
The regional airport is small in size, but it has a cafe on site (Robin’s Nest Cafe). The cafe serves breakfast items such as Pancakes; a Bacon, Ham, or Sausage, Egg and Cheese Sandwich; coffee; and hot chocolate. For lunch, you can order a Cheeseburger, Chicken Salad Sandwich, Classic Cuban, Nathan’s Hot Dog, and Turkey Avocado Wrap.
The airport even has its own Museum: the Shannon Air Museum. The museum includes historic airplanes like the only known surviving V-1AD in the world; The “Stars & Stripes”, which dates back to 1940; and the Pitcairn PA-5. It also has the Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame.
The airport also has numerous car rental companies nearby, including Hertz and Enterprise.
Shannon Airport is also an excellent regional airport for a private plane.

The Stafford Regional Airport is located a little further from Fredericksburg, however, it is still only 10 miles from downtown Fredericksburg. This makes it a very convenient regional airport option.

Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA)

Reagan National Airport is further afield. It is located 50 miles north of Fredericksburg. The airport is located right outside of Washington, D.C., and in fact, it is the closest airport to the Nation’s Capital.
Reagan National Airport is a major international airport, with flights throughout the U.S. and overseas. It also features extensive shopping and restaurants.
Some of the restaurants at the airport include the D.C. staple Ben’s Chili Bowl, American Tap Room, District Bar, and Five Guys, as well as Dunkin Donuts and of course Starbucks.
There are also numerous places nearby to get a rental car, including Alamo, Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, Dollar, and more.
The airport is conveniently located off of I-395 (which connects with I-95). It is also easily accessible by metro within the D.C. metropolitan area. There are numerous parking lots for short and long-term parking.

Dulles International Airport (also referred to as Washington Dulles) is the largest airport in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. It is also the second closest international airport to Fredericksburg. The airport features domestic and international flights all over the world.
There are a large number of dining and shopping options at Dulles. Some of the restaurants on-site include Au Bon Pain, &Pizza, Bracket Room, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, and much more.
Dulles is accessible by both car and metro. In November 2022, the Silver Line will feature a newly opened stop right at the airport.

Richmond International Airport is also further from Fredericksburg. It is about 67 miles south along I-95. Though it is an international airport with numerous domestic and even international flights, it is not as large as Reagan National Airport.
