Winchester, Virginia is a charming historic town located about 60 miles from Fairfax County. It is located in the lovely Shenandoah Mountains region of the state. It can be reached via Route 50, Route 7, or Interstate 81.

Winchester Brew Works

Location

Description

Winchester Brew Works is located in historic old town Winchester. They have a tasting room with craft beer such as the Northside Light Lager, Sun Salutations Bohemian Style Pilsner, Wanderlust Belgian Blond, and the Cascade Falls IPA, among many others.

They also feature some unique flavors, such as the Bear Tracks Peanut Butter Porter, with an actual peanut butter taste!

Winchester Brew Works has snacks available but they do not have a full-service restaurant. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Pets are allowed in the outdoor seating area. The outdoor seating has picnic tables to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the surrounding area.


Alesation Brewing Co.

Description

The Alesation Brewing Co. is named for the Alsace-Lorraine region of France, and it is heavily inspired by this area near the German border.

The brewery features such unique beers as Loka Koko, which is a coconut ale; Hazy Mindset, which is a hazy IPA; a Meyer lemon sour; plus more traditional beers such as a Dry Irish Stout and Blond Ale.

The Alesation Brewing Co. also features a food menu that includes grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich, creamy Mac and cheese, bone-in pork chop, and summer garden pizza.


Backroom Brewery

Description

Backroom Brewery began as an herb farm and later expanded to add a hops field. They boast a gorgeous farmland setting. The brewery is located in Middletown, which is just 14 miles from Winchester.

The brewery has more than 25 ales, including some unique and delicious offerings, such as Rosemary Orange Amber Ale, Peter Peter Pumpkin Drinker Porter, Chili Pepper Red Ale, Lemon Basil Wheat Beer, and a Holiday Market Ale.

The Backroom Brewery also hosts weddings, live music, and other special events.

Backroom Brewery also has a full-service restaurant that serves pub fare, including beer bread grilled cheese, pulled pork barbecue sandwich, bratwurst, and turkey Rueben.

Description

Escutcheon Brewery Co. is a popular choice in the old town walking mall. Some of their brews are the Fancy Clancy Pilsner, Agonic Line Lager, and Kerlogue Irish Red. You can bring your own food.

As an added bonus, the brewery has a ping-pong table!


Broken Window Brewing Company

Description

The colorfully named Broken Window Brewing Company features equally colorful beers such as The Highlander, The Lumber Snack, Mass Hysteria. They also offer hard seltzers.

The brewery also features live music and has board games to enjoy with friends. All of this is presented in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with knowledgeable staff.

As an added bonus they allow dogs inside!


50/50 Taphouse

Description

The 50/50 Taphouse is another top Winchester brewery that features bold beers such as the Brooklyn Stonewall Inn IPA, the 21st Amendment Brew Free or Die, Abita Purple Haze with berries, and even Ardent Key Lime Gose with key lime purée and shredded coconut. The brewery features an incredibly long list of great beers.

They also offer food items such as tator top nachos, jalapeño poppers, and burgers. In fact, the brewery is based on the premise that beer and beer and burgers make the best combinations. In fact, they offer 50 brews and 50 burgers to choose from!

The 50/50 Brewery also has shuffleboard and a pool table for even more reasons to check them out for a great night out.
