1. The Wooded Cabin

The Wooded Cabin is a picture-perfect cabin retreat just 16 miles north of Charlottesville! 

It features everything you imagine with a cabin in the woods, like a big stone fireplace, wood-paneled walls and ceiling beams, and an inviting front porch. 

The cabin is a studio design, with a king-sized bed in the main living area. It has a small kitchenette with sink, mini-fridge, and microwave, as well as a full bathroom. 

As a huge plus, the cabin is located in the woods and has multiple bike and walking trails on-site, so you only have to step out of the front door to go exploring the area!

Another bonus is that there are multiple wineries nearby, including one of my favorite wineries, Glass House Winery, which is only an 8-minute walk away!

2. Deer Ridge Cabin

Deer Ridge Cabin is a charming cabin located on 66 secluded woodland acres. It’s located in Scottsville, VA, which is just 10 miles south of downtown Charlottesville. 

The cabin is also just a 12-minute drive from some of the best area wineries, including Blenheim Vineyards, which is one of my favorite local Charlottesville wineries!

Deer Ridge Cabin is filled with character, including wood-paneled walls and a large stone fireplace. It includes a double bed and a loft with two twin beds. There is also a private bathroom, kitchen, front porch, deck, and barbeque.

3. Shenandoah Crossing Resort 

If you’re looking for all of the charm of a country cabin but all of the amenities of a resort, then Shenandoah Crossing Resort is the place to be. 

It’s one of the top campgrounds near Charlottesville, with ample space for RVs and tent camping. The resort also features luxury cabins, townhouses, and even yurts for a truly unique experience! 

The cabins at Shenandoah Crossing feature 2 and 3-bedroom layouts, plus full kitchens, 2 and 2 ½ bathrooms, living rooms, and even decks. 

The yurts are 706 square feet and feature an open studio design with a small kitchen, bathroom, bed, and living room.

4. Lydia Mountain Lodge and Log Cabins

If you’re looking for rustic charm and a perfect location then Lydia Mountain Lodge and Log Cabins is a great option!

It’s located about 28 miles north of Charlottesville in Standardsville, VA, and right outside Shenandoah National Park. 

The lodge is only 6 miles from Skyline Drive, the Appalachian Trail, and numerous hiking trails and overlooks. 

Lydia Mountain Lodge and Log Cabins has many log cabins to choose from, each brimming with rustic charm. 

The cabins range in size from one to five bedrooms and include a bathroom, a kitchen, wood-paneled walls, and even a hot tub! 

Pets are allowed in most of the cabins. 

For an even more rustic experience, the property also features adorable cabin pods, which include a small kitchen, a futon bed, a bathroom, and a stone patio with a hot tub and fire pit.

5. Misty Mountain Camp Resort

Misty Mountain Camp Resort is just 17 miles west of Charlottesville. It features RV and tent sites, as well as cozy cabins and even a bunkhouse for larger groups.

The cabins range in size from one bedroom to three bedrooms and many are pet friendly. Each cabin has a bathroom, a small kitchen, air conditioning, and heating. 

Some of the cabins include a private bath, while other cabins do not have a private bath and require guests to use the nearby bathhouse. Some cabins also come with smaller kitchenettes while others have full modern kitchens. 

The cabins also range in style from rustic log cabins to more modern properties with full modern kitchens.

6. Bailey’s Retreat Cabins and Guesthouses

Bailey’s Retreat Cabins and Guesthouses is only 12 miles northwest of downtown Charlottesville in Ivy, VA.

It’s close to Mechums River, Beaver Creek, and Albemarle Lake, which means you’ll have no shortage of outdoor water activities nearby. 

They feature several properties on an expansive 50 acres, including a cabin and several cottages. 

The log cabin is filled with rustic character and charm. It has wood-beamed ceilings, an original stone fireplace, and an inviting front porch. The cabin also features a micro-kitchen, a loft bedroom, and a bathroom with a clawfoot tub. 

The property has beautiful expansive views of the surrounding hills, which makes it a delightful and relaxing retreat. 

If you’re in the mood for more modern conveniences, then you might want to check out one of the cottages. They’re slightly larger than the cabin and can accommodate up to 4 guests. There are two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a full kitchen in each of the cottages.

7. Afton Mountain Vineyards Cabins 

If you’re interested in exploring the amazing wineries near Charlottesville, then Afton Mountain Vineyards Cabins is a great choice. It’s located in Afton, VA, which is just 30 miles west of Charlottesville. 

The region is filled with some of the best wineries in central virginia, including Veritas Vineyards, Valley Road Vineyards, and of course, Afton Mountain Vineyards! 

The winery has several cottages and a guesthouse where you can book a relaxing stay. 

The guesthouse has two bedrooms, a full modern kitchen, and beautiful views of the surrounding hills and vineyard.  

The cottages are a little smaller with one bedroom, a full kitchen, and cozy living rooms. 

Pets are allowed in the cottages but not in the guest house.

8. Madison Vines RV Resort and Cottages 

You can find adorable cottages at Madison Vines. The resort is just 25 miles northeast of Charlottesville.

The wood-paneled cottages are uniquely Amish handcrafted and filled with charm and a cozy ambiance. 

They come in various sizes ranging from a studio to 2 bedrooms. Each cottage also has a kitchen, bathroom, living room, tv, heating, and air conditioning.

The property also features many amenities, including a pool, hot tub, basketball court, two pickleball courts, tennis court, sand volleyball court, two dog parks, fitness center, and more. 

Madison Vines also hosts regular events like chili cook-offs, bingo, barbecue lunches and dinners, movie nights, and even Murder Mystery Dinners, so there’s no shortage of activities to keep you busy!

9. Small Country Campground  

Small Country Campground is another great option for mountain cabin rentals near Charlottesville, VA.

You can book a stay at a rustic cabin (which does not include a bathroom), or reserve a more modern cabin with a kitchen and a private bath. 

Their larger Park Model cabins can accommodate up to four guests and include a separate bedroom, a sofa bed, a full kitchen, and a private bathroom. Each cabin also includes a picnic table, deck, fire ring, and charcoal grill. 

The primitive cabins are actually quite modern and nice, though they are small. They have a small kitchenette, 3 beds, and a dining table. 

One cabin also includes a shower, but not a full bathroom. There are two bathhouses nearby that you can use though. The rustic cabins also include heating and air conditioning.

One of the great features of Small Country Campground is 25-acre Beaker Lake, which has plenty of water activities like kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and sunbathing on one of the two beaches! 

Small Country Campground also features some great family-friendly amenities like a pool, arcade, miniature golf, playgrounds, a volleyball court, and a basketball court. 

There are also more general property amenities, including laundry facilities, a convenience store, a snack shack, and a dog park.
